Can the movie be long?
Can the movie be long?
re: Can the movie be long?
The winning script will be made into a short film (about 5 minutes long), so your script should be about 5 pages long. You can find more information here: http://www.vitalfilmworks.com/scriptwritingcontest/.
Length of Script
How long can the script completed script be?
re: Length of Script
The script should be about five pages. It should be about one page per minute of filming.
Regarding ability to film
If the winning script is going to be filmed will there need to be a limit on the amount of special effects and CGI that would be needed?
re:Regarding the ability to film
Unfortunately, there will be no time and budget for special effects
(which includes green screen and CGI work). We suggest that you
focus more on their story, rather than on special effects.
Thanks for the great question!

the script writing contest
Are we allowed to use the names of real universities (both ivy league schools and state schools) in our script or would that require special permissions from the universities?
re:the script writing contest
It's ok to use the names of real universities.
script writing contest
i was wondering if your script should have an ending or if it should be just the beginning like the example we received at the workshop of The Dark Night??
re:script writing contest
Response from John at Vital Film Works:
To all-
It should be a complete script with a beginning and end.
Thanks!

script
re:script
The script has to be completely original, so it would be best to leave out any reference to CSI.
Also, while the winner of the contest may go on set while their script is being filmed, the acting will be done by local professional actors.
Thank you for the great questions. Good luck!
? regarding the script writing contest
Does this have to be an original script or can it be an adaptation from a short story?
re: regarding the script writing contest.
It must be an original script.
